#  Snow Removal and Street Sweeping Cost Analysis 

 



The Field Lab partnered with the City of Boston to compare the fully burdened costs of snow removal and street sweeping performed by city forces versus private contractors.

Students developed a unit cost comparison model to evaluate equipment, labor, maintenance, and overhead costs associated with in-house and contracted services.



 

 ### Areas of Focus

The team analyzed fleet size optimization, replacement schedules, technology upgrades (GPS and salt spread regulators), and cost differentials between municipal and contracted operations.
