The Field Lab partnered with the City of Boston to explore equitable and innovative financing mechanisms for large-scale coastal resilience infrastructure.

Project Summary

Students worked with Boston officials to evaluate funding strategies for implementing Climate Ready Boston, a long-term plan to protect the city from sea level rise and storm surge. The project supported the city’s efforts to finance resilience investments within existing legal and fiscal constraints.

 

Areas of Focus

The team examined capital financing options, revenue mechanisms, and equity considerations related to climate adaptation infrastructure. The analysis focused on innovative funding tools, constraints on municipal borrowing, and strategies to equitably distribute costs and benefits of resilience investments.
