Island End River Flood Resilience

The Field Lab partnered with the City of Everett to examine the socio-economic impacts of storm surge–induced flooding in the Island End River area, a region critical to food distribution, transportation infrastructure, and environmental justice communities.

Project Summary

Students analyzed the potential impacts of flood events on food supply chains, transportation networks, employment, and environmental justice populations in Everett and Chelsea.

Areas of Focus

The team examined flood risk exposure, socio-economic impacts on food distribution and transportation systems, workforce and wage impacts, and equity considerations affecting vulnerable communities. The analysis focused on documenting risks and impacts associated with climate-driven flood events.
